So what is involved in preparing for the Advanced Test,
and how does Camelot Group help you?

The process usually begins with an Assessment Run with a group Observer. This lasts typically half an hour and you are asked to drive on a variety of roads, allowing the Observer to make an initial evaluation of the standard of your driving relative to the requirements of the Advanced Test. Don't worry, the Observer is not there to tear your driving to pieces, although initial advice may be offered if he or she believes that some aspects of your driving are fundamentally unsafe.

Assessment runs are conducted twice yearly in Spring and Autumn. The next runs will be in October.

If you are not able to attend these runs, or do not want to wait that long, an assessment can be arranged for you individually by getting in touch with us (follow the Contact us link).

All Assessment and Observed runs are done in your own car
(there are no special insurance requirements).

The Assessment Runs are followed by an enrolment evening and a series of presentations, details of which will be announced.

After enrolment you will start your Observed Run (OR)with an Observer allocated to you. Each OR lasts about an hour. The Observer's role is more passive than a driving instructor, so don't expect ORs to be like the driving lessons you had to prepare you for your L test. He or she will guide you and suggest particular aspects of your driving to concentrate on between ORs. When you're ready, you'll have a "mock test" and then, all being well, you'll apply for and take the actual test.

Camelot Group welcomes associates starting at any time of the year, not just at the twice yearly Assessment Runs. Just contact us to ask for an individual assessment.
